CUNA webinar series tackles social media compliance

MADISON, Wis. (10/28/15)--CUNA unveiled its 2015 Social Media Compliance Webinar Series this week.

The month-long series of online training sessions, which will run from Nov. 4 to Dec. 2, address compliance issues related to social media marketing.

“In the credit union movement, social media has become a key platform for marketing, engagement and outreach, and like any other platform it is governed by complex regulations,” said Melisa Kallestad, CUNA instructional design manager. “By taking part in this webinar series, credit union marketers and compliance professionals will be able to ensure the propriety of all their social media initiatives.”

Gaye DeCesare, Compass 4 CUs president/CEO, and Kristen Tatlock, Compass 4 CUs vice president, will lead the sessions. Compass 4 CUs is a compliance-related credit union service organization.

The series will cover regulations affecting social media marketing compliance, including the Truth in Savings Act, National Credit Union Administration share insurance requirements, and unfair, deceptive or abusive acts and practices.

The sessions include:

  • Social Media Compliance Dos and Don’ts (Nov. 4);
  • Advertising Share Account Products via Social Media (Nov. 18);
  • Lending Advertisement Rules and Requirements (Nov. 25); and
  • Social Media Compliance Risks (Dec. 2).
