The Sterling, Ill.-based credit union encouraged employees to pay $5 each Friday of the month to dress up in costumes according to pre-determined themes. “This all started when a couple of my employees were discussing how they could raise money for breast cancer awareness during the month of October,” said Suzie Branch, Select Employees president/CEO. “The team decided they would designate a theme for each Friday of the month. The first week, you paid to wear pink. The second week was Cubs apparel. Week three was any professional sports team.” The credit union finished the month with an ‘80s theme. PORT NECHES, Texas (11/19/15)--Employees and members of MCT CU, Port Neches, Texas, raised nearly $4,000 to send kids fighting muscular dystrophy to the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) summer camp. The credit union raised the funds by offering $1 and $5 pin-up mobiles for purchase. The association describes the camp as a week where “anything is possible.” “The MDA Summer Camp Mobile Program is a simple and effective way for MCT CU employees and members to make a real difference in the lives of kids and adults living with debilitating neuromuscular diseases right here in our local communities,” said Anna Papoutsis, MCT executive director. “It is with the generosity of the Southeast Texas community that we are giving some amazing kids the chance to experience the independence of being away from home in an environment where barriers don’t exist” …
