10 new member-owners join MEMBERS Development

November 30, 2015

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (11/30/15)--MEMBERS Development Co. (MDC), a firm that pools credit union resources to facilitate innovation and strengthen the overall movement, has added 10 new credit union member-owners to the team.

The new additions bring the total to 43 owner credit unions.

“We were impressed with the professionalism of the MDC staff and the quality and relevance of their research,” said Wayne Grosse, president/CEO, Bethpage (N.Y.) FCU, one of the 10 new owners. “We look forward to working collaboratively with MDC’s owner credit unions, which have demonstrated a proven track record of innovation.”

Recent research by MDC has focused on the member experience, onboarding and engagement and personalization.

James Nastars, president/CEO of Meritrust CU, Wichita, Kan., said that the credit union decided to deepen its relationship with the organization so that it could participate in these research efforts.

“Very simply, it’s knowledge,” Nastars said. “We benefit from the combined research and development of nearly 50 progressive credit unions and, in turn, we are able to deploy our resources to help bring meaningful initiatives to reality.”

Jeff Kline, MDC president/CEO, said: “Cooperation is a basic credit union tenet, but it’s one our industry doesn’t always practice--often out of fear of giving away a competitive edge, when in fact it is fairly rare when another credit union is a key competitor. The truth is that everyone benefits when we work together.”
