DES MOINES, Iowa (11/30/15)--The Iowa Credit Union Foundation nominated two new members to its board of directors and appointed a new vice chair at its annual meeting Nov. 18. Adam Carroll, CEO of National Financial Educators, and Marian Holmes, director of branch operations at Community 1st CU, Ottumwa, Iowa, are the new board members. Jason Norton, senior vice president of marketing and business development at DuTrac Community CU, Dubuque, is the new vice chair. MINNETONKA, Minn. (11/30/15)--A small step by Mill City CU’s community give-back campaign spurred additional funds for a Twin Cities nonprofit. The Minnetonka, Minn.-based credit union used its monthly Making the Greater Good Even Greater program to boost Hopewell Music Cooperative North, a program that uses music to help underserved youth thrive. The credit union’s first-ever give-back donation of $935 went to Hopewell, followed by a match from Mill City’s board and doubled by the Minnesota Community Foundation’s GiveMN program. Within days, Hopewell received a $25,000 grant from Minneapolis’ Pohlad Family Foundation. “It’s not just the monetary donations, but also the awareness that keeps a nonprofit thriving,” said Jaette Carpenter, co-founder of Hopewell. “Although Mill City didn’t directly give us $30,000, I believe our exposure from their campaign created the spark”...
