Friday deadline for CUNA board nominations, another received

MADISON, Wis., and WASHINGTON (12/3/15)--Another name has been submitted for CUNA board elections, with Friday as the last day for nominations to be made.

Debie Keesee, CEO of Spokane (Wash.) Media FCU, was nominated for the District 6, Class A open position. District 6 covers Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, American Samoa, Guam, Johnston Atoll, Midway Atoll, Northern Mariana Islands, Palmyra Atoll and Wake Atoll. Class A represents credit unions having less than 30,000 natural-person members.

The deadline for nominations and seconds is Friday. For any contested elections, voting begins Dec. 9 and closes Jan. 15. Nomination information can be found on CUNA’s website.

The full list of positions up for election this year and current nominees are:

District 1--Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands:

  • Class C, credit unions having at least 106,000 natural-person members: Mark S. Brantley, board member, Municipal CU, New York.

    The current CUNA board member serving District 1, Class C (Robert Cashman, president/CEO, Metro CU, Chelsea, Mass.) will complete his third consecutive three-year term and will be ineligible to run for re-election.

District 2--Delaware, District of Columbia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia:

  • Class A, credit unions having less than 30,000 natural-person members: Joe Thomas, president/CEO, Fairfax County FCU, Fairfax, Va.

    The current CUNA board member serving District 2, Class A (John Graham, president/CEO, Kentucky Employees CU, Frankfort, Ky.) will complete his third consecutive three-year term and will be ineligible to run for re-election.

District 3--Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee:

  • Class B, credit unions having at least 30,000 but not more than 106,000 natural-person members: Bradley Green, president/CEO, Listerhill CU, Sheffield, Ala.

District 4--Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin:

  • Class C: John C. Sackett, board treasurer, Royal CU, Eau Claire, Wis.

District 5--Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wyoming:

  • Class B: Roger Heacock, president/CEO, Black Hills FCU, Rapid City, S.D., and
  • Class D, league presidents: Scott Sullivan, president/CEO, Nebraska Credit Union League.

District 6--Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, American Samoa, Guam, Johnston Atoll, Midway Atoll, Northern Mariana Islands, Palmyra Atoll and Wake Atoll:

  • Class A, Debie Keesee, CEO of Spokane (Wash.) Media FCU; and
  • Class D.

    The current CUNA board member serving District 6, Class A (Susan Streifel, president/CEO, Woodstone CU, Federal Way, Wash.) will complete her third consecutive three-year term and will be ineligible to run for re-election.

No more than two of the voting CUNA directors shall be from the same state, according to CUNA’s bylaws. There are currently two CUNA directors serving from California; therefore, nominations for District 6, Class A and District 6, Class D cannot be accepted from individuals from California.

Those elected will take office upon the adjournment of CUNA's Annual General Meeting in Washington, D.C., Feb. 22, during the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference.
