'Not just a tagline': Filene releases annual report

December 10, 2015

MADISON, Wis. (12/10/15)--Filene Research Institute isn’t just a “think tank” for credit unions, it’s also a “do tank” and a “change tank,” and the organization is not just saying that.

“(Think. Do. Change.) is not just a tagline, it’s a call to action,” wrote Paul Kundert, president/CEO of UW CU, Madison, Wis., and board chair at Filene Research Institute, at the outset of the organization’s annual report, which was released this week.

“Back in 2012, Filene launched a three-year strategic plan whose most critical goal was to put meaningful change into action,” he continued. “As we came to the end of this cycle in 2015, it was evident that Filene had delivered on its ‘Think. Do. Change.’ promise in hundreds of ways, both large and small.”

The annual report lists the organization’s myriad accomplishments for 2015. They include:

  • 17,846 research papers downloaded;

  • 110 credit unions using its outreach and education services;

  • 15 new ideas for i3, a program that pools ideas from the best minds in the credit union movement to create innovative products, such as prize-linked savings accounts; and

  • 42 former “i3ers” who are now credit union CEOs.
