Joint membership equals strongest advocacy: Va. league

January 13, 2016

RICHMOND, Va. (1/13/16)--In a video message to credit unions, the Virginia Credit Union League emphasized that advocacy efforts are strongest with membership in both the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and the state league.

“We firmly believe that advocacy is best done by CUNA and your league working hand in hand in Washington, D.C.,” league President Rick Pillow said in the video.

The league “strongly encouraged” credit unions to remain members of both organizations because it believes “joint membership is the strongest system.” The league noted that, effective at the beginning of the year, Virginia credit unions are allowed to be members solely of the league.

The interdependency model has served advocacy well over the past 80 years, said the league, adding, “It is the working together of CUNA and the leagues that will make our advocacy efforts strong for you in the future.

“Together we’re working on your behalf each and every day.”
