Foundation sets 'course' for retirement with new reality fair materials
MADISON, Wis. (1/14/16)--Credit unions can now access “Retire on Track” materials from the National Credit Union Foundation to host their own retirement fairs.
Similar to financial reality fairs, which teach teens about the complexity of managing personal finances in the real world, retirement fairs help people think more carefully about the type of lifestyle they would like to pursue in retirement, and how to prepare for that future financially.
The fairs can be useful to members of all ages, from those nearing retirement to those simply ready to prepare themselves for the future, according to the foundation.
“The foundation has been piloting the retirement fair for the past two years, which builds on the enormous success of financial reality fairs for teens,” said Lois Kitsch, foundation national program director.
The Retire on Track materials include electronic files containing everything an organization needs to host a retirement fair. The files include a comprehensive guide, PowerPoint presentations, handouts and webinars.
More information on retirement fairs and the materials can be found on the foundation’s website.
