OMWI director to perform NCUA's EEO duties

January 22, 2016

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (1/22/16)--The director of the National Credit Union Administration’s (NCUA) Office of Minority and Women Inclusion (OMWI) will now perform the agency’s Equal Opportunity Office (EEO) duties, per a final rule passed by the NCUA board Thursday.

The OMWI director will also report directly to NCUA Chair Debbie Matz under the final rule bringing the direct reporting in line with other federal financial agencies.

In January 2014, the NCUA merged the EEO function into OMWI with the intent to merge the complementary functions and transfer the EEO director duties to the OMWI director. However, the OMWI director at that time retired during the consolidation, which delayed the transfer of duties.

Various senior executives served as the acting OMWI director until Monica Hughes Davy was hired as director in July 2015.

With the permanent director in place over both the OMWI and EEO functions, it became appropriate to transfer the EEO director duties to the permanent OMWI director, according to the NCUA.
