NAPERVILLE, Ill., and BISMARCK, N.D. (2/9/16)--Katherine Romano Schnack has joined the Illinois Credit Union League as compliance and corporate counsel. Schnack works with the league’s new Accomplus compliance platform, confers with credit unions to address compliance questions and provides more intensive legal compliance training and testing services. She previously worked for the Federal Trade Commission, where she litigated claims involving many consumer protection laws that relate to credit union operations, according to the league. “A fundamental component of the league’s advocacy on behalf of its affiliated credit unions is to help them interpret and comply with the ever-expanding array of new laws and regulations,” said Stephen Olson, league executive vice president/general counsel. “Katherine’s background and experience will enable us to more effectively address regulatory compliance matters, so our affiliates can serve their members without fear of adverse repercussions.” The Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) announced Katie Dressler is the new vice president of communications and awareness (The Memo Feb. 8). Dressler’s primary responsibilities will be to develop and generate positive credit union awareness and support CUAD and Mid-America Service Corp. messaging and marketing. FARMERS BRANCH, Texas (2/9/16)--Tim Rhoades, former president/CEO of Government Employees FCU, Austin, Texas, died Jan. 30, the Cornerstone Credit Union League reported (Leaguer Feb. 8). Rhoades, who worked for the credit union for 31 years, had retired Dec. 31, 2013.
