WASHINGTON (2/11/16)--Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen appeared before the U.S. House Financial Services Committee Wednesday, her semiannual appearance before the legislative body. During her testimony, Yellen cited a number of growing risks to the economy, including global troubles, and did not specify when or if the Fed will raise its benchmark interest rate after raising it in December 2015. Having previously said the Fed would raise rates gradually, she gave no indication about what might happen at the March 15-16 meeting. WASHINGTON (2/11/16)--The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development released its proposed fiscal year 2017 budget this week. According to the agency, the budget is “focused on helping Americans to secure and maintain, affordable housing, ending homelessness, making our communities more resilient from natural disasters and protecting people from housing discrimination.” The budget includes $48.9 billion in gross discretionary funding and $11.3 billion in new mandatory spending over 10 years, with an emphasis on supporting 4.5 million households through rental assistance…
