Foundation’s Fin. Fitness Day fits fine with CU Youth Month

February 26, 2016

MADISON, Wis. (2/26/16)--The National Credit Union Foundation is inviting credit union organizations to hold a “Financial Fitness Day” fundraiser on April 6 to kick off National Financial Literacy Month and National Credit Union Youth Month.

The initiative will raise funds for the foundation and state credit union foundations in support of their financial education initiatives.

Financial FitnessTo participate, credit union organizations should hold a jeans or casual day fundraiser for staff on April 6.

“Holding a casual day for staff on April 6 is a fun and easy way to support for such an essential cause across the country,” said Danielle Brown, foundation director of development and donor relations. “Financial education is a critical focus of many credit union’s outreach efforts in order to improve the financial well-being of their members’ and community.”

The campaign website can be found at financialfitnessday.com. Included on the website are other campaign resources such as additional fundraising ideas, sample newsletter/blog articles, sign-up sheets, supporter sticker and wall pin-up templates, sample tweets and social media images, web buttons and banners.

“The theme this year for Youth Month is ‘Credit Union Strong,’ which is all about showing young members why credit unions are the No. 1 place for financial fitness,” said Jeremiah Tucker, Credit Union National Association youth month coordinator. “Kicking off with a Financial Fitness Day is a great tie-in to this theme. More so, we encourage you to position your credit unions as a source of financial strength all month long, where staff members serve as personal trainers to get kids in top financial shape.”

Donations made as part of the initiative will be split 50/50 between the foundation and the state credit union foundation in which the donation was made.
