Highlights from a blustery 2016 CU Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run
WASHINGTON (4/4/16)--Credit union leaders and volunteers were out full force Sunday morning for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. Around 15,000 runners took place in the event, which also featured the presentation of a check for $505,000 from Credit Union Miracle Day to Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Children's Miracle Network Hospitals receives a check for $505,000 from Credit Union Miracle Day at the Credit Union SacTown Run in Sacramento, California. The California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues have partnered with the Sacramento Running Association to host the event for the past five years.
"Thanks to credit unions and businesses in California and Nevada, we have raised more than $1.1 million over the past five years to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals throughout both states,” said Diana Dykstra, president/CEO of the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues.
The top male runner was Jordan Chipangama, the returning champion, at 49:23, The top female runner was Jane Kibbii, the race’s first-ever three-time champion, at 53:21, a course record.
