CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (4/5/16)--The merger of Northern Piedmont FCU, Warrenton, Va., and University of Virginia Community CU (UVA), Charlottesville, was completed Friday with the integration of Northern Piedmont members’ accounts into UVA’s core system. UVA will now serve more than 70,000 members in Culpeper, Fauquier and Rappahannock counties. OKLAHOMA CITY (4/5/16)--The Oklahoma State Senate honored seven of the state’s credit unions for their support of a painting that depicts the first black U.S. deputy marshal west of the Mississippi, Bass Reeves (Leaguer March 31). The unveiling ceremony was held in the Senate chambers last month, and the painting will hang in the second floor rotunda of the Oklahoma Capitol building with the names of the credit unions that supported the project. Last fall, State Sen. Dan Newberry (R-Tulsa) approached Oklahoma Credit Union Association President Nate Webb to see if Oklahoma credit unions would be interested in assisting with the project.
