Capitol Hill gets up-close look at fin. lit., aSmarterChoice during today’s event

WASHINGTON (4/5/16)--National Financial Literacy Month is kicking into full gear, and today representatives from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and the National Credit Union Foundation will be sharing the importance of financial education during Financial Literacy Day on the Hill.

CUNA staff will be highlighting the #CUdifference campaign as well as America’s Credit Unions and aSmarterChoice. As one of the event’s sponsors, the Foundation will showcase its BizKid$ and financial literacy programs.

FLMIn attendance will be Gigi Hyland, Foundation executive director, and from CUNA, Robert Henson, associate director of advocacy; Phil Drager, director of advocacy; Kristin Eagan, associate director of advocacy; Christina Pontisso, social media coordinator; and Alex McVeigh, communications specialist.

Roughly 60 organizations--including the National Credit Union Administration--will attend the free event, coordinated by Jump$tart Coalition, Junior Achievement USA and the Council for Economic Education. It begins at noon (ET) in room 902 of the Hart Senate Building.

This year’s honorary co-hosts are Sens. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.) and Tim Scott (R-S.C.).
