Fin. ed. in Seattle: A giveback from America’s CUs
CUNA, the National Credit Union Foundation, Northwest Credit Union Association and Northwest Credit Union Foundation will hold a financial education event, Give Back to Seattle, during the America’s Credit Union Conference in Seattle.
“America’s Credit Union Conference is about planning for the future of the credit union movement; financial education shapes our future by creating more informed, responsible consumers,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “We’re extremely grateful for the support of our partners on this event, especially the Northwest Credit Union Foundation and leagues who have gathered contacts and spearheaded the event planning.”
On June 26, teachers and administrators from school districts from across Washington will receive information and practical guidance on youth-oriented financial education. Each attendee will be given a Biz Kid$ Starter Kit--including DVDs, training tips and suggested curriculum--that is customized to Washington state financial education standards.
“This initiative will help Washington area educators instill an understanding of financial literacy and credit union principles in a generation of future members,” said Gigi Hyland, foundation executive director. “Together, we will use the America’s Credit Union Conference platform to make a positive impact on the community.”
With the support of the National Credit Union Foundation, registration for Give Back to Seattle is free for educators.
America’s Credit Union Conference attendees who would like to volunteer for the event can also register at acuc.cuna.org.
