Two young CU directors share their experiences in the boardroom.

December 2, 2016

As the millennial generation grows in importance in the workforce and the overall economy, more credit unions are working to add millennial leaders to their boards.

Recruiting young leaders was a topic of conversation at the CUNA National Credit Union Roundtable for Board Leadership earlier this year.

At that conference, two young board members—Tara Leer of P1FCU in Lewiston, Idaho, and Andrew Stickney of VSECU in Montpelier, Vt.—ruminated on strategies and tips for incorporating more leaders in their age group in credit union governance.

Stickney is CEO of Burlington Bytes, a full-service web design, build, and digital marketing agency in Burlington, Vt. He formerly served as the vice president of the Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies, a business incubator and seed venture fund in Burlington.

Leer is a stay-at-home mom of three and a former marketing professional who was heavily involved in the community before joining the P1FCU board.

Leer and Stickney share their experiences in the latest CUNA News Podcast.
