MADISON, Wis., and WASHINGTON (June 15, 2017) – CUNA Disaster Recovery Workshop, a new event that allows credit union professionals to develop, refine and test their approach to disaster recovery, crisis response and business continuity planning (BCP), will make its debut Dec. 5-6, 2017, in Las Vegas.

“It’s a huge mistake to assume your credit union will never face a crisis—at some point, every credit union does,” said Tracy Blaske, CUNA director of compliance education. “CUNA Disaster Recovery Workshop gives credit unions the tools to survive these crises and maintain order after a disruptive event, be it a robbery, natural disaster or bereavement of a key staff member.”

The workshop teaches disaster recovery best practices through real world case studies and hands-on activities. Attendees get to put their incident response and business continuity strategies to the test with a crisis simulation while learning how to conduct a tabletop exercise they can take back to their credit union.

Speakers at the workshop—a group of knowledgeable, experienced crisis managers and responders—will delve into lessons learned from real-world situations and examine issues related to disaster response such as cyberattacks, vendor management, disruption and BCP testing.
