CUNA calls for member action on bipartisan financial reform bill

November 14, 2017

CUNA issued a call to its membership to contact their Senators in support of the Senate Banking Committee's bipartisan financial reform bill, legislation that benefits Americas credit unions.

CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle sent a message to all CUNA member credit unions urging them to contact their lawmakers in supporting of the bill.

Campaing for Common-Sense Regulation"We have the opportunity to see real common-sense regulatory reform for credit unions enacted,” reads Nussle's message to credit unions.

“Just yesterday, a bipartisan group of Senators released legislation that has a strong focus on Main Street financial institutions, not on Wall Street. Contact your Senator NOW and urge them to support this bipartisan, common-sense legislation.

"This regulatory relief bill supports Main Street, credit unions, small banks, and the consumers and small businesses that they serve. It provides protections against elder abuse and ensures credit union loans are treated the same as their bank counterparts.

"In today's hyper-partisan political environment, it is refreshing to see elected officials working together on legislation that impacts 110 million credit union members. Now, your Senators need to hear that you support this important legislation!
