George W. Bush delivers message to GAC attendees
Former president discusses the political, cultural, and financial climate with CUNA CEO Jim Nussle.
Monday at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC), more than 5,000 credit union professionals from around the country gathered to hear former President George W. Bush discuss the political, cultural, and financial climate with CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle.
Nussle, who served as Bush’s director of the Office of Management and Budget from 2007 to 2009, interviewed the 43rd president on a variety of topics. They spoke about:
- Current relationships with China, Mexico, and North Korea.
- Lessons learned during Bush's two terms in office.
- The qualities of an effective leader.
- The importance of public service.
- Meeting the needs of everyday Americans.
“Gaining insight from our past can guide us moving forward,” Nussle says. “It was truly my pleasure to discuss the current state of the nation and the power of collaboration and public service with President Bush, as these principles are the core of the credit union philosophy. This has been a record-setting GAC and CUNA is honored to host a high-caliber speaker such as President Bush.”
