CUNA engaged w/ Kraninger committee vote this week
CUNA will be engaged with the Senate Banking Committee’s markup of several nominees Thursday, most notably director of Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection nominee Kathy Kraninger. The Senate Banking Committee is expected to meet in executive session to consider the nominees at 9:30 a.m. (ET) Thursday.
CUNA wrote to the committee in July for the record of the hearing in which Kraninger testified, supporting the nomination process and calling for a bipartisan commission to lead the bureau. Two members of the committee supported a commission during the hearing.
Other hearings CUNA is engaged with this week include:
- Tuesday, 10 a.m. (ET): Senate Energy and National Resources Committee hearing, “Energy Efficiency of Blockchain and Similar Technologies;
- Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. (ET): Senate Judiciary subcommittee on crime and terrorism hearing, “Cyber Threats to Our Nation’s Critical Infrastructure;” and
- Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. (ET): Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions subcommittee on primary health and retirement security hearing, “Financial Literacy: the Starting Point for a Secure Retirement.”
