CUNA engaged with data privacy, FHFA hearing this week
Both the House and Senate are in session this week, and CUNA will be engaged with several hearings conducted by both chambers. CUNA is also closely monitoring government funding negotiations this week, as it is currently expected to expire Sept. 30.
This is likely the last week for the House until after November’s midterm elections.
Hearings CUNA is engaged with this week include:
- Wednesday, 10 a.m. (ET): Senate Commerce Committee hearing, “Examining Safeguards for Consumer Data Privacy;”
- Thursday, 10:30 a.m. (ET): House Financial Services Committee hearing, “Oversight of the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s role as conservator and regulator of the Government Sponsored Enterprises;”
- Thursday, 2 p.m. (ET):” House Judiciary Committee hearing, “Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act of 2017;” and
- Friday, 9 a.m. (ET): House Financial Services Committee financial institutions and consumer credit subcommittee hearing, “Examining Opportunities for Financial Markets in the Digital Era.”
The House is also expected to vote on the conference report to accompany the “minibus” funding bill for the Department of Defense, Labor, Health and Human Services and Education (H.R. 6157). This bill also includes a continuing resolution to ensure level funding for all government funding through Dec. 7.
H.R. 6157 has passed the House.
