Lawmakers bring thoughtful insight to 2019 CUNA GAC

Senators and representatives took the stage at the 2019 CUNA GAC to share their vision.
NCUA was also represented by Board Chairman J. Mark McWatters and Board Member Rick Metsger.
Here are some of the highlights.
- Credit unions’ input is stamped on S. 2155, says Montana Sen. Jon Tester (D).
- Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) recognizes that credit union action during the partial government shutdown embodied the motto of "people helping people."
- After S. 2155 win, Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) says housing reform is next on his list.
- CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle moderated a panel with McWatters and Metsger where the current expected credit loss standard was discussed.
Tuesday also saw Vice President Mike Pence take the stage and emphasize the "incredible work" credit unions do.
