Compliance: e-Guides for BSA, telemarketing updated in 2019

August 26, 2019

CUNA maintains more than 60 comprehensive e-Guides on federal laws and regulations that impact credit union operations and regulatory compliance. They are free to access to CUNA members, and cover topics including consumer lending, deposit accounts, fair lending, operations and real estate lending.

Each e-Guide contains the text of any relevant laws and regulations, an executive summary prepared by CUNA compliance staff, an in-depth review, available tools and training on the topic available from CUNA and links to any resources provided by the government.

Many have been updated in 2019, including:

  • Bank Secrecy Act, updated May 2 with links to the Office of Foreign Assets Control’s “A Framework for OFAC Compliance Commitments” document;
  • Electronic Fund Transfer Act/Regulation E, updated Feb. 27 with information on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) announcement regarding a streamlines electronic submission system for prepaid account issuers to submit account agreements.
  • Flood insurance, updated Feb. 1 to add links to a joint agency announcement that they will amend regulations to implement provisions of the Biggert-Waters Floor Insurance Reform Act of 2012, effective as of July 1; and
  • Telemarketing, updated June 6 with information on the Federal Communications Commission’s declaratory ruling allowing voice service providers to block certain calls by default.

In addition to the CompBlogCUNA’s Compliance Community contains discussion boards and a number of other resources for credit union compliance professionals around the country.
