Gregory Steen

Vice president of information technology, Fort Sill Federal Credit Union

November 13, 2019

I took up the Marine Corps challenge out of high school in 1992. The next 13 years took me places I would not have dreamed about going, including two tours of Iraq. The first was the opening gambit in 2003 and then the following year.

It was surreal to leave what I knew as a young adult and enter the civilian world, but I knew I wanted to continue to have the discipline and pride from the Marine Corps. I used the GI Bill to receive a master’s degree in computer science.

Since receiving my education post-military, I must say I maintained that discipline to stay on course in my academics. The reward was meeting my goals. I have been in the government sector and owned my own business. I currently lead employees in our information technology department. In each role, I have pride.

Currently, my goal is to support Fort Sill Federal Credit Union’s mission statement to the best of my ability using all of my leadership experience, education, and knowledge. I want to foster the learning of technology in my employees while instilling a sense of camaraderie and commitment to the mission of the credit union.

I want my employees, and all of the credit union’s employees, to buy into our purpose as a defense credit union, serving the community, and those who protect our freedom.
