Artist captures the spirit of GAC

In true credit union spirit, mural is a collaborative effort.

In this interview, graffiti artist Rajan Sedalia shares how he painted a live mural during CUNA’s 2020 Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) this week in Washington, D.C.

Sedalia incorporated action words provided by conference attendees into the mural along with the phrase “One Member at a Time.”

“Members would write words down and I would transfer them down along with an active descriptive or visual to capture the word,” he told Credit Union Magazine Deputy Editor Bill Merrick.

GAC attendees “remember where they came from and know where they’re going,” Sedalia said.

It's necessary to “capture a feel for the event” when creating a mural for a conference like the GAC, he said. “But in the end it’s all about having fun."
