CUNA leaders talk storytelling, engagement, DEI
CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference featured general sessions, breakout sessions and much more for the 5,500-plus credit union leaders in attendance. During the conference, numerous CUNA leaders spoke with CUBroadcast about their areas of expertise, including CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle, Chief Engagement Officer Greg Michlig and Senior Policy Analyst Samira Salem.
Nussle sat down to expand on themes raised during his CUNA GAC address, how CUNA is equipping credit union advocates to tell their stories to policymakers, and how the credit union system is continuing to explore new and better ways to advance the communities they serve.
Michlig outlines how CUNA’s engagement team works both during CUNA GAC and year-round to ensure credit unions stay up to date about the latest resources from CUNA, as well as connect them with ways to work alongside CUNA and Leagues in advocacy and member service efforts.
Salem, who participated breakout session panel on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) during CUNA GAC, talked about why increasing DEI is not just a part of credit unions’ foundational values, but brings business value as well.
