Credit unions provide much-needed resources for local communities.
Credit unions continue to support their communities with coronavirus (COVID-19 relief efforts.
Some of the ways credit unions are serving their communities:
Employees of Kinecta Credit Union, Manhattan Beach, Calif., served free meals to more than 100 area first responders.
Kellogg Community Credit Union, Battle Creek, Mich., partnered with two local businesses to provide energy drinks to essential workers. “This was a great opportunity for us to support a local business while also showing our appreciation and gratitude to these dedicated and caring individuals who are working on the frontlines in the hospitals,” says Kellogg Community Credit Union CEO Tracy Miller.
SECU provided disposable gloves to front-line medical staff in North Carolina.
SECU, Raleigh, N.C., donated 60,000 nitrile disposable gloves to North Carolina Emergency Management for distribution to front-line medical staff and other essential service providers. Many of SECU’s 7,200 employees use gloves when handling cash or member documents.
Global Credit Union, Spokane, Wash., recently bought lunch for its staff as part of the Support Local Gems Initiative, a statewide campaign to encourage Idahoans to shop at small businesses whose operations have been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. The credit union has two branches in Idaho.
Align Credit Union, Lowell, Mass., donated $10,000 to local hospitals, food banks, and food pantries that are helping Massachusetts communities battle the spread and effects of COVID-19.
Providence Federal Credit Union provided free snack bags to caregivers at local hospitals.
Providence Federal Credit Union, Milwaukie, Ore., sponsored the delivery of free snack bags to nearly 7,000 caregivers at local hospitals.
CoVantage Credit Union, Antigo, Wis., donated $100,000 to area nonprofit organizations. The funds support local charities working with people experiencing financial challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, such as area food pantries, homeless shelters, and community foundations.
The Fox Cares Foundation, the charitable subsidiary of the Fox Community Credit Union, Appleton, Wis., committed $35,000 to local community foundations that provide relief during the COVID-19 pandemic.
