All 6 CU supporters win in Massachusetts primaries

September 2, 2020

Credit union-backed candidates won all their primary races Tuesday in Massachusetts. All six candidates were backed by the Cooperative Credit Union League and CUNA’s federal political action committee, the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC).

Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.), chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, defeated primary challenger Alex Morse with 58.9% of the vote, and will run in November for a 17th term.

Neal is a longtime credit union champion and supporter of regulatory relief legislation. He also visited a local business in April that was helped through a Paycheck Protection Program loan from Greylock FCU, Pittsfield, Mass.

Tuesday’s results bring the total wins for credit union-backed candidates in 2020 to 344, a success rate of more than 96%. Detailed results can be found at

With 61 days remaining until November’s election, CUNA launched it’s latest Member Activation Program (MAP) Campaign last week, urging credit unions to activate their members to vote in November and directing them to to find voting information.
