CUNA Reports Highest Affiliation Rate Since 2009

November 30, 2020

Washington, DC

Credit Union National Association (CUNA) today announced it has hit its highest affiliation rate since 2009. CUNA member credit unions now represent nearly 87% of all credit unions.

“As the nation’s largest trade association that welcomes all federal and state-chartered credit unions, our latest affiliation numbers show that more credit unions around the country believe in the value of the CUNA-League system and the benefits it brings employees, volunteers and members,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “CUNA has worked hard to not only achieve results with our bold, 360-degree advocacy, but to offer best-in-class solutions and other resources our members need. I’m proud of the way our team has pivoted in response to the changing environment this year.”

With nearly 90 new members since August, CUNA placed an emphasis on reaching out to credit unions to make sure they were aware of all the CUNA-League resources offered during these particularly challenging times.

“Though our engagement team is focused on CUNA affiliation, they are sure to promote the benefits of League membership as well, because the credit union movement is strongest with a robust, collaborative CUNA-League system,” said Greg Michlig, CUNA’s Chief Engagement Officer.
