CUNA is pleased to welcome award-winning journalist, documentarian, and author, Soledad O’Brien as a keynote speaker at this year’s CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC), March 2-4, 2021. O’Brien will share her thoughts on today’s most pressing issues, including income inequality and our current political landscape. This keynote session is sponsored by PSCU.

O’Brien anchors and produces the political magazine program Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien and reports regularly for HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. She is the CEO of Soledad O’Brien Productions, a multi-platform media production company dedicated to sharing empowering and authentic stories. O’Brien is also a respected documentarian whose films have addressed youth incarceration, PTSD and the opioid epidemic.

O’Brien is well known for her work in television journalism. She, was a Harvard University Graduate School of Education Distinguished Visiting Fellow and wrote two books, including a critically acclaimed memoir, The Next Big Story.

“Many of the communities we serve have been hit hard by COVID-19, and the disparate impact of the pandemic has prompted our nation to initiate more courageous conversations around income inequality and racial inequity. And at a time when we, as Americans, most need to come together, we are struggling to heal deep political divisions” said Jim Nussle, CUNA President/CEO. “We are looking forward to welcoming O’Brien for a frank discussion on the path forward.

Typically held in Washington D.C., this year’s virtual conference will retain the key elements of the in-person conference: thought-provoking speakers, breakout sessions, and opportunities to connect with lawmakers, business leaders and credit union peers from across the nation.
