NCUA will host a webinar, “Pathways to Safe and Affordable Account Access for Consumers,” Oct. 21 in recognition of International Credit Union Day. Registration is now open for the webinar, which is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. ET.
The theme for International Credit Union Day® 2021 is "Building Financial Health for a Brighter Tomorrow.” To expand on this year’s theme, the webinar will address safe, low-cost transactional and savings account features that are responsive to the needs of consumers, especially the underserved.
Presenters include:
- Dave Sieminski, senior policy analyst with the Office of Community Affairs at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), will present the latest data and research on account features that promote financial inclusion and asset building as well as the impact of overdraft fees on consumers.
- David Rothstein, senior principal at the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE), will discuss Bank On National Account Standards, which include low costs, no overdraft fees, and robust transaction capabilities. CFE will also discuss how they partner with credit unions nationwide to offer Bank On certified accounts.
- Ann Solomon, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Inclusiv, will describe how they work with credit union partners across the country to build programs and products designed to increase the financial capability of low-income people.
Additionally, credit union officials will join the webinar to share information about their programs aimed at offering low-cost, low-fee products and services to consumers that bring greater inclusion and equity to the communities they serve.
