October 25, 2021

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Rohit Chopra will testify before House and Senate committees for the first time as bureau director this week. The House is expected to vote on legislation—potentially including infrastructure and/or reconciliation legislation—this week, while the Senate is expected to vote on executive and judicial nominations.

Chopra will testify before the House Financial Services Committee Wednesday, starting at 10 a.m. ET. The hearing will also discuss a series of legislation and draft legislation.

Chopra will also testify before the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee Thursday, starting at 10 a.m. ET.

The Republican members of the House Ways and Means Committee will conduct a meeting Thursday, titled “The Devastating Consequences of Biden’s IRS Surveillance of Americans’ Bank Accounts.”

Republican Ways and Means members previously wrote a letter of opposition to proposed expanded Internal Revenue Service reporting.
