Senate COMPETES consideration, other hearings this week

While the House is in recess this week, the Senate will resume consideration of H.R. 4521, the America COMPETES Act of 2022. The bill passed the House in February with the text of the CUNA-League-supported Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act.

The SAFE Banking Act would provide safe harbors for financial institutions that provide services to legal cannabis-based businesses.

Other hearings CUNA is engaged with this week include: 

• Tuesday, 10 a.m. ET: Senate Banking Committee hearing: “Building a Resilient Economy: Shoring up Supply.”
• Wednesday, 10 a.m. ET:  Senate Banking Committee hearing: “Strengthening Oversight and Equity in the Appraisal Process.”
