CUNA’s Nussle Responds to Rep. Upton’s Retirement

April 5, 2022

Washington, DC

CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle issued the following statement upon learning that Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich., would retire from the U.S. House of Representatives:

“Fred Upton has long been a friend to America’s credit unions and their millions of members. Fred’s pragmatic approach and drive to find commonsense solutions—most recently in his push to forgive most Paycheck Protection Program loans to help small business owners and credit unions focus on recovering from the pandemic—has long been an example of leadership in Congress.

“I have appreciated working alongside Fred, first in my time in Congress, and in recent years to improve financial well-being for Michiganders and people across the country. I wish him well in his next adventure.”

Nussle and Upton served together in the House of Representatives from 1991-2007.
