Reminder: CUAC applications due by July 24

July 15, 2022

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is accepting applications to its Credit Union Advisory Council and other advisory committees through July 24. In addition to the CUAC, the CFPB coordinated with its Consumer Advisory Board, Community Bank Advisory Council, and the Academic Research Council.

The CUAC advises the CFPB on regulating consumer financial products or services via the unique perspective of credit unions. It shares information, analysis, and recommendations to better inform our policy development, rulemaking, and engagement work. All of its members represent CUNA member credit unions.

According to the CFPB, it is “inviting applications from individuals who can provide us with insight and advice as we carry out our work.”

Examples include:

  • Current employees of credit unions and community banks.
  • Representatives of banks and credit unions that serve underserved communities.
  • Experts in consumer protection, community development, consumer finance, fair lending, and civil rights.
  • Experts in consumer financial products or services, including consumer reporting, student lending, small dollar lending, credit cards, debt collection, and debt relief.
  • Experts in consumer finance education.
  • Representatives of communities that have been significantly impacted by higher priced mortgage loans.
  • Academics with a strong research and publishing or practitioner background, and a record of involvement in research and public policy, including public or academic service
