E-statement campaign plants 23,000 trees

Effort inspires members to switch from paper to e-statements.

Patelco Credit Union in Dublin, Calif., donated $23,000 to One Tree Planted during a three-month campaign to inspire members to switch from paper to e-statements.

The $8.7 billion asset credit union created the campaign to give back to areas of California affected by wildfires. Patelco donated $5 for each member who switched from paper to e-statements, enabling One Tree Planted to plant 23,000 trees.

“We’re dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve, and planting trees is another way we can continue to contribute to our natural spaces and support a cause that is near and dear to our hearts,” says Patelco Credit Union Vice President of Marketing Rina Johnson. “We’re proud of our members for stepping up to make the switch, minimizing paper waste while putting trees back into our forest.”

Restoring areas affected by wildfires produces ecological benefits such as habitat restoration and erosion control, and reduces the risk of catastrophic fires and floods, according to One Tree Planted.
