Montana’s Credit Unions President/CEO Kenyon announces retirement

August 19, 2022

Montana’s Credit Unions (MCU), the state credit union trade association, is announcing Tracie Kenyon’s retirement as president/CEO next spring. At the time of her retirement, she will have served in the role nearly 22 years.

During her tenure, MCU started two unique companies for Montana credit unions: Montana Credit Unions for Community Development, a charitable organization that creatively combines advocacy efforts with outreach and development; and Montana Credit Union League Group Benefit Trust, a self-funded benefit plan for employees of Montana’s credit unions that incorporates wholistic approaches to wellness including financial wellbeing.

“I have loved serving Montana credit unions as the president and CEO of their trade association. Together we have done amazing work to enhance the credit union movement,” said Kenyon. “I expect MCU to continue to thrive after I retire, and I am dedicated to helping with the transition.”

“The MCU Board of Directors unanimously approved to remain an independent trade association and announced that decision at our annual membership meeting in May. We have strong financials, robust advocacy and service delivery, and strong membership involvement,” said Jeremy Presta, chair of the MCU Board and president/CEO of Park Side Credit Union.

“We thank Tracie for her outstanding dedication to and passion for the credit union movement, and we wish her continued success in her retirement,” continued Presta.

The MCU Board has selected Humanidei + O’Rourke to conduct the national search for Tracie’s successor. Jill Nowacki, who started her own career with Montana’s Credit Unions 21 years ago, will serve as the lead recruiter for the search.

In addition to her work in Montana, Kenyon has served the American Association of Credit Union Leagues as Board Chair, the CUNA Executive Committee, the Filene Research Institute as Board Chair, and the National Credit Union Foundation Board. She currently serves on the Western CUNA Management Board as Treasurer. She was honored with the Farley Leadership Award in 2017 and her Credit Union Development Education project, MCUCD, won the Herb Wegner Memorial Award from the National Credit Union Foundation in 2009. Kenyon will remain in her role through May of 2023.
