CUNA releases post-election analysis, resources

November 13, 2022

CUNA’s election site, CUNA.org/elections, has been newly updated with CUNA’s post-election analysis, including a list of current results, and ads in support of candidates. CUNA, its federal PAC the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC), and Leagues invested more than $6.6 million in the midterms.

As of the weekend, 353 CULAC-backed candidates have won their elections so far, including seven of eight called priority races. This includes at least 48 new members of Congress.

“Regardless of the results, the CUNA-League system will remind Congress that America’s credit unions are committed to advancing the communities they serve and improving members’ financial well-being,” the report reads. “It’s important that every American has access to local financial partners who put their financial well-being ahead of the bottom line.

We will continue to fight against any changes to the interchange system and the credit union tax status, while working to advance priorities such as field of membership modernization, data security and privacy, charter expansion, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reform, and credit union custodial powers in the digital asset space,” it adds.

A recording is also available of CUNA’s post-election webinar, where CUNA leaders break down the results—including a look at state election results—and look ahead to what’s in store for the 118th Congress.
