CUNA Announces Robert Lewis as new EVP/Chief Advocacy Officer

The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) announced Robert Lewis has been hired as its new executive vice president and chief advocacy officer. Lewis, the founder and president/CEO of the Van Aucker Group, has more than 20 years of legislative experience involving financial services.  He will start at CUNA January 3. 

“We’re thrilled to welcome Robert to the CUNA-League system, his impressive background in financial services and track record of getting things done in Washington, D.C., will be a great benefit to credit unions and their 130 million members,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle.  

Lewis has been with the Van Aucker Group since 2018, he previously worked with the Financial Services Institute, House Judiciary Committee, Financial Executives International, and the office of Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga.  

“I’m excited and humbled to lead a top-notch advocacy organization like the CUNA-League system and look forward to hitting the ground running to advance policies to help credit unions do even more on behalf of their members,” Lewis said. “Credit unions have played a vital role in our economic recovery, and I look forward to advocating on their behalf on creating new and future opportunities.”
