Rock Stars to take the stage at GAC

CUNA Councils breakfast at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference will showcase five Credit Union Rock Stars.

February 16, 2023

The CUNA Councils will host a breakfast at the 2023 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) that features several Credit Union Rock Stars.

Five of these innovative leaders will showcase their talents Tuesday, Feb. 28, sharing how they define excellence, overcome obstacles, lead effectively, collaborate with peers, and innovate for members’ benefit.

The Credit Union Rock Stars are:

  • Jason Buchanan, chief credit and risk officer, Blue Federal Credit Union
Just two years into his credit union career, Buchanan has deployed three probability of default models, launched a new loan origination system, created a small business report card, and piloted the My Community Mortgage Program at the $1.5 billion asset credit union in Cheyenne, Wyo.
  • Jan Page, CEO, Community South Credit Union
This 2021 Credit Union Rock Star doesn’t worry about competing with national banks. Rather, she gets to know her members and perfect what the Shipley, Fla., credit union does well. That mindset allowed Community South to grow from $43 million in assets in 2007 to $193 million today.
  • David Murphy, president, Marshfield (Wis.) Medical Center Credit Union
Murphy takes members’ trust seriously, treating “every interaction as an opportunity to not only showcase our credit union’s products and services but also our ability to provide sound guidance for those who seek it” at the $87 million asset institution.
  • Tiffany Goforth, vice president of business development, United Southeast Federal Credit Union
Passionate about financial education, Goforth frequents classrooms to provide people of all ages with better financial futures. She believes the $200 million asset credit union in Bristol, Tenn., “can make a difference every day to someone who might be going through something tougher than we’ll ever see.”
  • Ami Iceman-Haueter, chief research and digital experience officer, MSU Federal Credit Union
She believes constant innovation is required to create lasting member experiences at the $6.8 billion asset credit union in East Lansing, Mich.

Buddy Bennett, CUNA Councils Executive Committee vice chair and chief operating officer at $1.6 billion asset Cyprus Federal Credit Union in West Jordan, Utah, will moderate the session.

The Credit Union Rock Star program recognizes unique, innovative, and creative credit union people who make the movement a better, more interesting place. Nominate a 2023 Credit Union Rock Star today.
