Leagues, credit unions meet with policymakers during Washington, D.C., visits

September 29, 2023

Leagues and credit unions from Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia were in Washington, D.C. to advocate for credit union issues in the last week of September.

The West Virginia Credit Union League--in addition to their Congressional visits--hosted Consumer Financial Protection Bureau )(CFPB) Director Rohit Chopra.

"“We appreciate Director Chopra’s engaging dialogue with our credit union leaders this past week. It is essential that the CFPB understand the real impact that regulations have on West Virginia’s credit unions," said West Virginia Credit Union League President/CEO Rich Schaffer. "Moreover, we were encouraged by the CFPB’s desire to meet with each League to discuss the history and mission of credit unions that have put people ahead of profit, despite shifts in the economy.”
