Senate Banking Committee advances Otsuka nomination for NCUA board

November 7, 2023

The Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee voted unanimously Tuesday to advance NCUA board nominee Tanya Otsuka for a Senate floor vote. If confirmed, she would take the seat of current board member Rodney Hood, whose term expired in August.

Otsuka—currently counsel for the committee’s majority staff—testified before the committee in October, sharing her philosophy and goals for the credit union movement.

CUNA and NAFCU submitted a joint letter to the committee outlining various credit union issues both the committee and NCUA should keep in mind.
