Credit Unions Vote launches in advance of 2024 election cycle

November 8, 2023

The countdown to the November 5, 2024, election is underway – and so is the “Credit Unions Vote” effort. CUNA launched Credit Unions Vote this week, a campaign designed to foster credit union involvement in the 2024 election cycle.  With the aim of getting credit union members registered and ready to vote – the CreditUnionsVote.com  website provides resources and information voters need to engage in the elections.

“Elections impact the financial well-being of credit union members and communities across the country, and this campaign is designed to tie in credit unions’ mission with civic engagement,” said Trey Hawkins, CUNA deputy chief advocacy officer for political action. “Throughout the election cycle we’ll be reaching out to credit unions, providing them with resources to encourage their members to get out the vote, and provide a website where members can get all their voting information.”

CreditUnionsVote.com includes information on voter registration, primary dates, polling locations, and get information on early and absentee voting. It also contains a feature to allows users to get registration deadline reminders and notices on upcoming elections.

The site also highlights the impact of credit unions in elections:

  • One in three people in America belongs to a credit union.
  • 44% of all registered voters are credit union members.
  • Electing candidates who support credit union efforts helps working Americans, our communities, and the credit unions that serve Main Streets across the country.

The Member Activation Program (MAP) has Credit Unions Vote information ready to go for all credit unions to use. Email templates are available here and are customizable to engage members in advocacy and political action so they can play a role in their credit union’s future.
