Open Lending becomes Associate Business Member to empower underserved

November 15, 2023

CUNA announced its latest Associate Business Member is Open Lending, an industry leader in loan analytics and risk-based pricing.

“CUNA is proud to partner with an organization so committed to expanding automobile access to traditionally underserved borrowers,” said Karin Sand, vice president of sales for CUNA System Provider Relations. “Open Lending’s 20-plus years of expertise in AI-powered decisioning and cutting-edge technology will be a valuable asset to our community of like-minded credit union professionals.”

Open Lending’s senior vice president of marketing, Kevin Filan, echoed these sentiments, stating, "Open Lending is fully aligned with CUNA’s mission to champion the credit union movement. As a company, our purpose has always been to change lives by making vehicle ownership fair, accessible, and more affordable. Now, in partnership with CUNA, we’ll expand this purpose through advisory participation, thought leadership, and advocacy for credit unions and their members.”

Open Lending specializes in loan analytics, risk-based pricing, and automated decision technology for automotive lenders throughout the United States. Their flagship product, Lenders Protection™, offers a powerful way for financial institutions to increase near and non-prime auto loan volumes without adding significant risk.

This partnership aims to strengthen advocacy efforts for credit unions and provide enhanced opportunities for borrowers who encounter barriers in the automotive lending sector.

Credit unions continue to be the preferred choice by consumers seeking to achieve this goal. As member-owned and not-for-profit financial institutions, credit unions remain mission-focused, offering lower interest rates for auto financing than other lenders.

As an Associate Business Member, Open Lending will actively participate in industry advocacy, which may include advisory committee involvement and thought leadership to address the needs of near-prime and non-prime credit segments. They will also join speaking panels at CUNA events, like the upcoming CUNA Lending Council Conference Nov. 12-15 in Denver.

An Associate Business Membership opens doors to benefits that include:

  • Representation for credit union issues.
  • Annual registrations to CUNA events at member pricing.
  • Complimentary digital subscriptions to Credit Union Magazine.
  • Preferred pricing on Credit Union Magazine advertising and exhibit hall space at CUNA signature events.
  • Access to CUNA training and education resources at member prices.
