Credit union-backed Maloy wins Utah special election

Credit union-supported Celeste Maloy (R) was elected to represent Utah’s 2^nd Congressional District in a special election held Nov. 21. Maloy was supported by the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC), CUNA’s federal PAC, and the Utah Credit Union Association.

Maloy took 56.9% of the vote against Democratic candidate Kathleen Riebe and Libertarian candidate Bradley Green.

She will take the seat left open by the resignation of Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah. She previously served as Stewart’s chief legal counsel, and as deputy county attorney for Washington County, Utah.
