Reps. Wenstrup, Johnson announce departures from Congress

November 27, 2023

Reps. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, announced he will not seek re-election in 2024, and Bill Johnson, R-Ohio, Johnson announced he will leave Congress to become president of Youngtown State University. Both are credit union supporters.

“We thank both Reps. Wenstrup and Johnson for their support for credit unions and our priorities, and for regularly engaging with the Ohio Credit Union League and credit unions throughout the state,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle.

“We thank Congressman Brad Wenstrup for strongly representing Ohio’s 2nd Congressional District for more than a decade. His work on the House Ways and Means Committee enabled Ohio credit unions to continue supporting people, families, businesses, and communities throughout the state’s southern region,” said Emily Leite, chief advocacy officer for the Ohio Credit Union League.

“Congressman Bill Johnson is a strong champion for Ohio’s Appalachian region. From his assistance on the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program during the pandemic to his work on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Congressman Johnson empowered Ohio credit unions to put people and their needs first,” she added. “We thank him for his long-standing commitment to advancing Southeastern Ohio communities through their credit unions.”
