“There’s been a big change in funding costs, and reacting to that has been a big shift for a lot of institutions,” Krajicek says. “Compounding that fact is they’ve got more competition than they’ve ever had, and the competition is more sophisticated than it’s ever been. It’s a tough row to hoe to find new deposits and consumers who want to sign up at a local institution.”
