Feb. 28 is application deadline for CFPB advisory seats

February 25, 2015

WASHINGTON (2/26/15)--Those interested in a spot on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's Consumer Advisory Board or Credit Union Advisory Council (CUAC) have just two days left to get in their applications.

Membership in the councils is comprised of consumers and representatives of communities, the financial services industry and academia.

Appointments to the councils are generally for two years but can be modified by the CFPB director. New members of the councils will begin their terms this fall.

The CUAC was formed to ensure the bureau heard from smaller credit unions that fall outside its regulatory scope but will still be impacted, in some form, by CFPB regulations or actions. The council will generally advise the bureau on how its regulation of consumer financial products or services will affect credit unions with less than $10 billion in assets.
