League's outreach committee supports Wreaths Across America

December 2, 2014

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (12/3/14)--The Illinois Credit Union League's new community outreach committee is taking on its first project--that of honoring veterans with Wreaths Across America (WAA).

With the slogan "Remember. Honor. Teach." WAA aims to place a wreath on every veteran's grave in Arlington (Va.) National Cemetery and more than 800 other locations globally.

The league is supporting the Dec. 13 event at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill., both as a financial sponsor to purchase wreaths and as a volunteer to lay wreaths. All Illinois credit unions are invited to promote sponsoring wreath purchases or volunteering by their staff and members.

"This is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season, get involved in the community and, most importantly, honor those who have served us so nobly and well," said league President/CEO Sean Hession.  "We look forward to a great day of showing Illinois cooperative values in action."
